July 2026 summary

Here's what happened in July!

Raaveen, Mina, and Rakan

Mina update – cancer treatment has been brutal with lots of painful side effects and she has to take everything one day at a time. She is not able to do a lot of the animal care, so she is focused on herself, the animals she can interact with, and the plants. Rakan is an absolute rock star of a volunteer and team leader, and he is doing a lot of the heavy lifting on a daily basis. Big shoutout to the greater AnimO community as well! All the on-site help, packages, and donations are noticed and appreciated.

Skoshie, the young dog with a genetic disorder and seizures, has been relocated to a wonder senior dogs home where she will have 24/7 care and an on-site veterinarian. This will give her the best possible chance at the care she deserves.

We had a call for a beekeeper to rescue some bees in a tree on Yokota Air Force Base, but unfortunately we are not equipped to handle that. We would welcome any beekeepers based in Japan to contact us so that we can connect them with the right people, for this situation or for any that may come up in the future.
